The study permit grants the legal right for a person to study at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada. Most students studying for more than six months in Canada will require a Study Permit. Students studying for six months or less do not need a Study Permit, but will need to apply for one if they wish to extend their studies or begin another course after their initial studies end.
Canadian Study Permit allows full time international students in Canada to work on or off-campus for up to 20 hours per week.
To be eligible for a Canadian study permit applicants must have a confirmed place to study at a DLI, such as a Canadian university, community college, publicly funded trade/technical school, or a private institution authorized by provincial statue to confer degrees.
Once your study permit has been approved, and you have entered Canada as an international student, you must meet several requirements in order to maintain the validity of your study permit.
Upon completion of recognized study program students will be eligible for Post graduate work permit (only if the Study program is full time and duration is 8 months or more).
